Mary Bella (Freitas) Buchanan age 92 of Fisher Street, Attleboro died Monday in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Buchanan. She was born in Funchai, Madeira Island, Portugal a daughter of the late Joseph and Evangeline B. (Gouveia) Freitas. She moved to Attleboro in 1937 and had lived in Taunton for 20 years where she attended grade and middle schools. Mary worked at the Robbins company in Attleboro as a Lacquer Sprayer from 1948 to 1980 when she retired. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church’s “Mission Circle” in Attleboro and continued her active retirement life by participating in many of the Larson Senior Center Activities and also became a late-in-life D.J. until age 90 with her own music radio show on WARL 1320 AM produced by her long time friend Tom Rafferty. She enjoyed music and dancing and whenever she had the opportunity to, would regularly attend the summer concerts at Capron Park and other area communities. |

She leaves two sons John A. and his wife Judith A. Buchanan of Attleboro and David D. and his wife Jean Buchanan of Naples, FL. Three grandsons Mark Buchanan, James Buchanan and David and his wife Susan Buchanan. Four great grandchildren Max, Nicholas, Caitlin and Jacob Buchanan and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister-in-law of Stanley Stefanski of Burlington, VT. and the sister of the late Adelaine Stefanski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in celebration of her life officiated by the Rev. Florence C. Gigone age 89 of Bank St. Attleboro died Monday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Otto P. Gigone , the retired Physical Director of the Attleboro YMCA who died in 1994. She was born in New Kensington, PA a daughter of the late J. Elmer and Daisy Mae (Kern) Cooke. She had lived in Attleboro since 1964 having previously lived in Cranston,RI. Florence had been a Sales Lady for the former London’s Department Store of Attleboro for many years before she retired. She was very active in her Christadelphian Church and had been a Volunteer at Beta Community Services in Attleboro. She enjoyed playing the Piano and was an avid gardener and Red Sox and Patriots fan. She enjoyed swimming at he YMCA in Attleboro and wintering in Arizona. Antoinette H. "Tonie" Harrington age 77 of Ingraham St. Attleboro died Monday February 4, 2008 in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Howard Harrington. She was born in Attleboro a daughter of the late George and Albina (LeBlanc) Paul. She was a life long resident of Attleboro and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Attleboro. “Tonie” had been a Packer for the former Swank Company of Attleboro for 35 years before she retired in 1993. She was a member and volunteer of the Larsen Senior Center and the Council on Aging. She loved to visit the Foxwood’s Casino in CT. and loved to play cards and Bingo and enjoyed dancing. She leaves two brothers Edward Paul of North Attleboro and Francis Paul of Attleboro and three sisters Theresa Girard of Attleboro, Marguerite Jacob of Rehoboth and Geraldine Tingley of Central Falls, RI and several nieces and nephews. George Harris age 96 died January 18, 2008 in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Iris L. (Cote) Harris. He was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada a son of the late William and Mary (Turner) Harris. He was a life long resident of Attleboro and had served with the U.S. Army during WW II. George was a member of the Gilbert Perry Post VFW and had been a foreman for the former Mossberg Pressed Steel Company of Attleboro for over forty years before he retired in 1976. Theresa M. (Hession) Hanczaryk, 76, formerly of Fairhaven died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 after a long illness in the Southeastern Massachusetts Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Michael Hanczaryk. Born in New Bedford where she graduated from New Bedford High School, she was the daughter of the late Robert Hession and the late Mary (Sowa) Botelho. She lived most of her life in Fairhaven and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church while in Fairhaven. Survivors include two sons, Michael A. Hanczaryk and his wife Lynne of Acushnet and John Hanczaryk of New Bedford; two daughters, Karen Dorgan of Fairhaven and Cynthia M. Kulig and her husband Dr. John Kulig of Foxboro; seven grandchildren, Kirsten and Gretchen Hanczaryk, Hillary, Daniel and Kevin Dorgan and Jessica and Jillian Kulig; three nephews and a niece.
