Free Professional Development for History & Heritage Staff to Focus on Tourism

(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) ??? Summer’s approaching, and thousands of visitors are planning their trips to the Ocean State. Some will stay a few days, and others will pass through in a couple of hours, but they’re all looking for fun, educational experiences while they’re here. This panel, part of our “Helping History and Heritage Happen!” series, is for those looking to increase engagement at their organizations during the sector???s busiest season, but who have some questions about how to make that happen.

Three experts from Rhode Island tourism bureaus will discuss how they work with museums, historical societies, galleries, and others to promote local and statewide events and attractions to out-of-towners.????

Discover Newport CEO and President Evan Smith, Blackstone Valley Tourism Council President Robert Billington, and Providence-Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau Communications and Social Media Manager Christina Robbio bring years of knowledge and experience on how to get people in the doors of Rhode Island institutions. They’ll each speak briefly about what their respective groups do, plus answer questions from the audience while light refreshments are served.

This is a free event, but registration is appreciated. Those interested in attending can register online here, email rhodi@rihs.org, or call (401) 331-8575 x136.
