Administrator Selected as New Leader for Tomorrow

Last month, Harold Tavares, ’05, G’07, assistant director of international relations and special programs, was appointed as a New Leader for Tomorrow by the Crans Montana Homeland & Global Security Forum.

The three-year appointment brings with it the support of the Crans Montana Forum, with a goal of strengthening regional and international networks, and promoting renewed international dialogue, according to its website.

???I am deeply honored to receive this award,??? Mr. Tavares said.??

He traveled to Brussels last month to receive the award. The Cape Verde native has been instrumental in bringing to fruition many of BSU???s international programs, including the hosting on campus of the Young African Leaders Initiative over the past two summers.

Mr. Tavares??? fellow New Leaders hail from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Cameroon,??South Africa, Gabon, Bulgaria, Cambodia,??Morocco and Romania. They received their diploma from Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

The??Crans Montana Forum??is a Swiss non-governmental international organization, established in 1986, that works to build a more humane and impartial world, its website claims. Its members also encourage international cooperation and overall growth, and promotes best practices to ensure a permanent dialogue between all those who handle high-level responsibilities.??
