TEXT OF MESSAGE
Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
With the leftovers in the fridge, the holiday season is now in full swing. And that means holiday shopping. Across our state, local shops and family-owned businesses have incredible gifts for everyone on your list. I encourage you to take part in Small Business Saturday and Buy Local this holiday season.
Small and medium sized businesses employ more than 200,000 Rhode Islanders.1 Local businesses across our state ??? like the Village Drum & Music here in Scituate, Champs Diner in Woonsocket and mom-and-pop shops in every other part of Rhode Island ??? have a direct and significant impact on the local economy. In fact, on average, every dollar spent at a local, independent business returns three times more to the local economy than a dollar spent at a national chain.
In every part of our state, there are Main Streets with local shops selling local art, local pubs serving local beer and wine, and local restaurants preparing world-class meals with local ingredients. These businesses add to our quality of life and make an immediate contribution to our economy. Rhode Island is stronger because of our small businesses and our local retailers make the holiday season merrier for everyone.
Thanks, and happy shopping!
