FRANKLIN, MA, OCTOBER 13, 2017????? HMEA???a??private, not for profit agency that supports more than 4,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families???today announced that Jacqui O???Brien a DPH Nurse from Attleboro, has won the organization’s 2017 Good Citizens Award.

The Citizens Award is given to any person, not employed by the agency, who has made a significant contribution to the people HMEA supports by going above and beyond expectations. O???Brien was nominated because of her dedication and support to everyone in the HMEA community.

O???Brien was nominated for the award by Christina McDermott.

For several years now, O???Brien has been setting up annual flu shot clinics at 327 Handy Street in Attleboro. She provides vaccinations to people in a comfortable home setting, rather than the fear and anxiety that comes with a doctor???s office.

O???Brien has been known to assist people outside of the clinic if they are not comfortable entering. Her main concern is that people feel safe and secure in their surroundings. People have traveled as far as Lakeville, in order to receive a vaccination from O???Brien???s clinic.

???We truly appreciate Jacqui???s compassion and support in assisting us year after year,??? McDermott said.

O???Brien received the award??at the 28th HMEA Annual Awards Night. HMEA serves people with autism and special needs from ages one to 91 in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
