Film Screening of We Will Rise at the Weaver Library
The Weaver Library, located at 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, RI, will air the award-winning film We Will Rise: Michelle Obama’s Mission to Educate Girls Around the World??on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 7pm in the Champlin Program Room of the library.
Dan Socha, Rhode Islander and Response Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Liberia, will introduce the film which features the former First Lady Michelle Obama, actress and human rights activists Meryl Streep, Freida Pinto, and CNN’s Reporter Isha Sesay as they explore the inspirational stories of girls in Liberia and Morocco overcoming incredible odds to pursue their education.
Socha is a colleague of Allison Sinning, the Gender Coordinator at Peace Corps Liberia, who has worked with all of the Liberian girls featured in the film.
One of Dan’s former students is featured in the film!??
Dan, who will return to Liberia in late August, will take questions after the film.
