Statement in Response to RIC’s Suspension of Language Education Programs
Dear President Warner and Commissioner Gilkey,
I am writing on behalf of the Coalition for a Multilingual Rhode Island to express our deep concern regarding Rhode Island College’s recent decision to suspend its language education programs.
We strongly urge you to reconsider and reverse this decision. Language education programs are not expendable—they are essential to meeting the needs of our multilingual communities and building a stronger education system that prepares Rhode Islanders to exist and compete in an increasingly globalized world.
