Today marks a bittersweet farewell to The Little Prince, my feisty, determined rooster who refused to stay at the bottom of the pecking order.
He rose up in protest, challenging the top-down structure of the flock, and made it clear he was meant for something more.
And now, his story takes a beautiful turn—he is off to his new home in Stonington, Connecticut, where he will reign as The Prince of his very own flock of lovely free-range ladies.
My heart is full of gratitude for Hannah, who is welcoming him into their family with open arms. It is a joyful reminder that there is always a place where we can shine as our true selves.
In honor of his departure, I’m sharing a photo that made me giggle because, truly, there are very few dull moments out here on the farmstead.
