LTE: MAYOR DONALD GREBIEN

Dear Pawtucket Residents,

This week, we celebrated one of the most important traditions in our schools—Reading Week! Instilling a love for reading in our students is essential, as books open doors to endless possibilities. It was heartwarming to see our community come together to share the joy of stories with our youngest learners.

Throughout the week, many of our dedicated public servants, including members of our Community Policing Unit, Fire Chief Trenteseaux, First Lady Laureen Grebien, Chief Equity Officer Chachi Carvalho, and more, visited classrooms across Pawtucket to read with students.

From Agnes E. Little and Virginia Cunningham Elementary Schools to The Children’s Workshop, our city leaders were honored to engage with students, spark their imaginations, and encourage a lifelong love of books. I want to extend a special thank you to the teachers and staff who welcomed us into their classrooms and made these moments possible.

Personally, I had an incredible time visiting Agnes E. Little and Virginia Cunningham Elementary Schools this week. Sitting down with students, reading together, and answering their thoughtful questions was an absolute joy. Their curiosity and enthusiasm remind us why investing in education and literacy is so important. Thank you to every educator, student, and community member who made this week so special!

Warm regards,

Mayor Donald Grebien
