Rockport Election News
Dear Rockport Voters
Time is drawing near for eligible candidates to decide if they want to seek elected office.

One of the positions on the ballot will be the office of Town Clerk. Melanie Waddell, the incumbent, is up for re-election.
Today, there was a news article in the GDT about Long Beach residents who believe they have been unjustly taken off the Rockport voting roles by the Town Clerk and Board of Registrars and are suing Waddell and the Town to re-instate their voting rights.

Perhaps this is an issue worthy of debate in an election. Perhaps you disagree with the decision and feel that the town clerk’s view should be challenged. Or perhaps you agree with the outcome, but you feel it could have been processed or handled differently to reduce the chances of litigation. Or perhaps there are other issues you care about with regard to election integrity.
It is all food for thought. If you or anyone you know wishes to run for this position, you have until March 25th to turn in nomination papers, so that you appear on the ballot in May. Nomination papers are available at the town clerk’s office (sorry no way around that).
