Friends,
GINA
We???re on the move. Three years ago, we had the highest unemployment rate in America. Today, it???s the lowest it???s been since 2001 and it???s lower than Massachusetts???. Over the last two and half years, businesses and other employers have created nearly 13,000 new jobs. And, for the first time in 30 years, Narragansett Beer is being brewed right here in Rhode Island.
That???s progress. And we can???t go backwards.
In January, I introduced a Jobs Budget that invested in job training and education. Today, Rhode Island is set to be the fourth state in America that offers every graduating high school senior tuition-free access to community college. We???re protecting programs and investments that have given businesses a reason to take a fresh look at Rhode Island. We???re going to increase the minimum wage, provide working families with economic security and Rhode Island drivers are finally going to see some car tax relief.
No matter how hard the challenge, I will always stand up so every Rhode Islander has a shot to compete and get the good jobs that we???re creating.??
