• Day 1
• February 18th – Animals in Winter
• Winter can be a difficult time of year for animals. It’s cold, the sun is only out for a short time, and the ground may be frozen and covered in snow. This program will investigate the many behaviors and adaptations that animals use to deal with winter’s chill. Students will take part in science experiments, outdoor activities and will create crafts that help them understand animals in winter.
• Day 2
• February 19th – A Tropical Get Away
• February can be a very chilly, snowy time of year in New England. This program will help students get into a tropical mindset by getting to know some of the zoo’s animals that are native to warmer climates. Students will learn more about the countries that these animals are native to and how they are adapted to living in warm habitats.
• Day 3
• February 20th – Love Your Pet Day (Bring a stuffed animal)
• In honor of National Love Your Pet Day, we are inviting participants to bring a stuffed animal friend with them to this program. Students will explore the similarities and the differences between domestic pets and the wild animals living at the zoo. The children will also use their stuffed animals in activities that help them learn about the responsibilities and challenges that pet owners and zookeepers face when caring for animals
• Day 4
• February 21st – Capron Arts And Crafts
• Animals are such an inspiration! The students attending this program will be creating art and craft projects influenced by the creatures that call Capron Park Zoo home.
Students will explore the zoo, learn about basic anatomy, and take part in games and activities that help them understand animal adaptations and behaviors. (please keep in mind that students of all artistic levels are welcome to attend this program)
