Time for a coffee break and a new episode of Coffee with Konnie, hosted by former Worcester Mayor Konnie Lukes. In this episode, Konnie interviews author and retired teacher Judith Ferrara, at TidePool Bookshop in Worcester, to discuss her new biography “A Feast of Losses: Yetta Dine and her Son, the Poet Stanley Kunitz.” They review Stanley’s traumatic upbringing in Worcester, the influence that had on his later work, and reflect on his relative obscurity today, outside of poetry circles, despite being twice honored as US Poet Laureate. They discuss what drew her to center the book on the neglected but vital perspective of Stanley’s immigrant mother Yetta, from her recently recovered writings, and discuss the lengthy process of historical research that goes into thorough non-fiction. You don’t want to miss this!
