WINSLOW FARM SACTUARY THREATENED

NORTON MA CONSIDERING ALLOWING FOUR DUPLEX UNITS IN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Dear Neighbor:

I am told you have, or should have, received the Notification to Abutters from the Norton Conservation Commission, alerting us to the application of SherCorp. Ltd. to construct 4 duplexes and a common driveway at 0 Eddy Street in Norton, property neighboring ours. I write to you today to encourage you to participate in the public hearing that will be occurring via Zoom on August 28, 2023 at 6:30 pm.

The link to join the Zoom meeting is available on the Norton Conservation Commission website. At that time, Sher-Corp will be presenting its plan to the Conservation Commission, and all interested parties will have a chance to make comments and ask questions.

I have spent my entire life in Norton and am the founder, resident, and President of Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary. I have chosen to reside in Norton for nearly seven decades primarily because of the peace, tranquility and undisturbed majesty of the forests and waterways surrounding us, a sentiment I suspect you too share.

The development proposed by Sher-Corp Ltd. would diminish the natural beauty of our community. Specifically, it would impact the wetlands area abutting Meadow Brook Pond inhabited by wildlife of all kinds. I, myself, have witnessed the ethereal nature of the organisms populating the pond and its surrounding areas.

There is a wildlife trail over which deer and other creatures pass on a constant basis to enjoy the offerings and safety of the pond.

Sher-Corp intends to develop 4 unattractive and unnecessary duplexes at a time when Norton housing projects appear to be at an all-time high, but more importantly, the development would significantly and negatively impact the water supply and the protection of the wildlife habitat, as well as potentially Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary 37 EDDY STREET, NORTON, MA, 02766 T (508) 285-6451 E WNSLOFRM@GMAIL.COM leading to pollution of Meadow Brook Pond and surrounding areas.

There is also a question as to whether the development offers the proper frontage and enough area to house a properly-sized septic system, among other things. I truly appreciate your time and hope you will consider supporting our cause to oppose Sher-Corp’s development of 0 Eddy Street.

Please join us at the public hearing on August 28th at 6:30 pm.
