ATTLEBORO LAND TRUST NEEDS HELPERS AT CHARRON FARM

CHARRON FARM PRESERVE – JULY 8TH

Pink lady’s slipper (Cypripedium acaule)

The Attleboro Land Trust recently announced the acquisition of a new property on Morse Avenue in Attleboro.

It will be called the Charron Farm Preserve.  It is not ready to be opened to the public yet.

A preliminary task is to install “witness posts” to mark all of the boundary survey points.

To find the locations of the boundary points, we will walk the perimeter of the preserve, a total distance of about 1 mile.

About 90% of the walk will be through open fields.

We will need to go into the woods to find a few of the boundary points.

We will meet at the property on Saturday, July 8, at 9:00 am.  You are welcome to help with this task.

Directions:

From downtown Attleboro, take County Street south for 3.8 miles.

Turn right onto Read Street and drive 1/2 mile.

Turn left onto Morse Avenue and drive 1/4 mile.

Stop next to the open field on your right, just after the recently-constructed home at 41 Morse Avenue.

Park on the edge of the road.

(Don’t rely on Google Maps, which mislabels part of Morse Ave. as Gillette Ave.)

I have the tools needed for this event, but an extra shovel or pruning tools might come in handy.

Dress accordingly for protection against poison ivy and ticks.  Please bring your own:

— Work gloves

— Water

Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

If you are thinking of attending, please reply to give me an idea of how many volunteers to expect.

There is more about the donation of this property in an article on our website:
