ACTING 101

GREATER ATTLEBORO COUNCIL FOR CHILDREN

NICKY O FONDATION

ATTLEBORO COMMUNITY THEATRE

ACTING 101

You’ve been invited!

The Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children’s Nicky O Foundation, is offering Acting 101. Acting 101 is a free theater education program which has been developed and designed through the Nicky O Foundation to instruct young people of all ages on theater basics.

We propose to accommodate between 10 and 20 students from all ages 12 to young at heart. Students age 17 and younger will need to be accompanied by an adult for all practices.

Nicholas O’Neill was the youngest victim of The Station nightclub fire. Nicky was only 18 years old. He is the son of Dave Kane, a founding member of the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children.

The Nicky O Foundation was created to honor Nicky. Music and theater were a big part of Nicky’s life and his amazing talent and outgoing personality touched everyone with warmth and laughter.

As a fitting tribute, the Nicky O Foundation was created to support the musical and performing talents of young people.

Acting 101 offers an opportunity to discover and develop theatrical abilities. Students will receive professional tutoring and get real stage experience. This program is an invaluable first step for anyone interested in the performing arts.

Program creator and director, David Kane, Nicky’s brother, is a BFA graduate of Emerson College and has worked as an actor, director and producer for many years.

Acting 101 classes will take place two evenings a week for 6 weeks.

The classes for the first 5 weeks will run for two hours each night, from 6 to 8pm. The classes for the 6th week will be held on three nights for three hours each night.

This course will culminate with a live performance by the Acting 101 students.

Family, friends and the general public will be invited to attend.

The classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on June 20 and ending with performances on July 28 and 29th. They will be held at the Attleboro Community Theatre, in the Masonic Lodge, 71 North Main St., Attleboro MA.

There is no charge to be part of Acting 101. This entire program is sponsored by the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children, the Nicky O Foundation and The Attleboro Community Theatre in conjunction with funding from the Mass Arts Council.
