BARKER PLAYHOUSE AND FARM FRESH RI TEAM-UP

TONY AWARD WINNING MUSICAL AVENUE Q AT BARKER PLAYHOUSE MAY 25 SUPPORTS LOCAL FOOD HUB FARM FRESH RI

PROVIDENCE, RI — Two Providence nonprofits, Barker Playhouse and Farm Fresh Rhode Island, are teaming up to host a performance of the Tony award winning musical Avenue Q. Proceeds from the May 25th show will directly support the mission of Farm Fresh RI to grow the local food system to be more sustainable and equitable—valuing the environment, health, and quality of life of New England’s farmers and eaters.

The Barker Playhouse, located on Benefit Street on the East Side of Providence, is the oldest continually run community theater in America. The Players at Barker Theater are proud to present Avenue Q— “part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart”—Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book!

Described by the Players at Barker: “The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood.

Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.”

If you enjoy musicals and comedy, you’ll want to be sure not to miss this!

Tickets are $35 and include a refreshment package with wine or sparkling water, and both a sweet and salty snack.

Additionally, raffle tickets will be sold at the door for a chance to win exciting prizes while supporting an important cause.
