ELIZABETH FASTESON RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR

The Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies congratulates IPLWS Board Member, Elizabeth Fasteson, on being awarded the 2021-2022 Rhode Island School Counselor of the Year by the Rhode Island School Counselor Association.

Award message from the Rhode Island School Counselor Association (RISCA):

 

The Rhode Island School Counselor Association (RISCA) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Elizabeth Fasteson is the Rhode Island School Counselor of the Year. This award, given in memory of counselor and educator Arthur Tartaglione, honors a leader in program implementation who also performs outstanding service to the school and community in the counseling field.

 

   Mrs. Fasteson, a school counselor at Charles E. Shea High School has been nominated and chosen to serve as RI School Counselor Association’s School Counselor of the Year. 

 

She has been enthusiastically endorsed by her colleagues at Shea High school. Mrs. Fasteson brings spirit, innovativeness, and endless dedication to her school community providing support for her students, families, faculty, and administrators. 

 

She has earned an enviable reputation as an excellent school counselor who truly cares about people and their future.

 

 She is a mentor who demonstrates exceptional skills in communication, empathy, friendliness, and responsiveness.  

 

   Liz led Shea High School in the implementation of a comprehensive school-based counseling program designed to support instruction, and student achievement.  

 

She continually analyzes school data to ensure Shea’s counseling program meets the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students at Shea. 

 

In addition, Liz is currently leading the School Counseling Rethink Program.

 

   Her energy and passion for serving the students in the Pawtucket Shea High School community are truly inspirational.
