WEEKLY  LEGISLATIVE  HIGHLIGHTS

Leader de la Cruz bill amends 2021 Act on Climate.
Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz (R-Dist. 23, Burrillville, Glocester, North Smithfield) introduced the legislation (S-0499) ENTITLED, AN ACT RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT — 2021 ACT ON CLIMATE.

The bill incorporates ethical energy standards to the 2021 Act on Climate, requiring that the Climate Change Coordinating Council study and report on legislation or programs that are shifting environmental impacts of the use of carbon-free energy technologies onto impoverished and developing countries.

The act also addresses the recycling and decommissioning of solar panels, the disposal of wind turbine blades, and creates a program for tradeable renewable energy credits.
