Pulitzer Prize Winning Author of
Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom,
Dr. David W Blight to speak at Linden Place Mansion
Dr. Blight who was awarded in 2019 the Pulitzer Prize in History for this work will address the importance of Frederick Douglass and the resonance and relevance of Douglass’ life today.
Dr. David W Blight a Sterling Professor of History, Yale University and Director of The Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition will present a keynote speech at 3 pm on Sunday February 26, 2023.
“American history is a deep river. (Current events) remind us that history is never finished, and we have to keep crossing over the river, with all the honesty and truth we can muster from the spirituals and the blues, from historical knowledge, and from our greatest storytellers and poets.”
In addition to discussing the importance of Frederick Douglass, Dr. Blight will also talk about the crucial roles libraries, museums, historians and teachers have in presenting full, inclusive, honest and accurate histories.
