LTE: RHODE ISLAND GOP

Friend,

It is no secret that Republicans across the country – especially in blue states like Rhode Island – did not see the results they hoped for. I am still confident that we can significantly increase the number of members in the Legislature. But it will take even more focus and hard work over the coming months.

This year, the Rhode Island Legislature will welcome two new members: state representative-elect Brian Rea and state senator-elect Anthony DeLuca. I look forward to seeing all the great work they will accomplish on behalf of Rhode Islanders.

I appreciate the diverse and qualified candidates that stepped up this cycle to challenge the 80-year Democrat stronghold.

From Woonsocket to Westerly and Jamestown to Johnston, we had candidates engaging with voters. We had a strong ticket of candidates, with Allan Fung and Ashley Kalus leading the pack.

Our candidates worked tirelessly to get our message out to voters, but unfortunately, it was not enough. The Democrats’ scare tactics were highly effective in getting conservative-leaning independents to split their votes.

The best way to counteract their divisive rhetoric is by having an army of grassroots supporters helping our candidates on the ground to get them over the finish line.

Over the next two years, if everyone on our email list can help us make phone calls, door-knock, or donate, we can get more of our candidates elected and see a fundamental shift in Smith Hill.

Do not count out Republicans in Rhode Island yet. This is the time to reengage and help us combat the destructive policies coming out of the Democrat-controlled Legislature.

Sincerely,

Sue Cienki

Chairwoman
