This Weekend’s Holiday Events at Linden Place Mansion
Candlelight Tours and Holiday Concerts Continue at Linden Place Mansion
This weekend, take a candlelit tour, catch a holiday-inspired jazz concert or simply roam through the decorated 1810 mansion, all part of Linden Place’s month-long celebration of the holiday season.
BRISTOL—Linden Place’s doors are open for a festive celebration of the season. In keeping with its theme, “The Joy of Entertaining,” the many holiday-themed events throughout the month offer visitors a glimpse of the kind of gracious holiday celebrations that have taken place at the mansion. Visitors to the 1810 mansion can take in the historic landmark’s decked out halls, attend one of our live concerts in the historic ballroom and enjoy a candlelight tour of the 212-year-old mansion.
“In the more than 200 years since Linden Place was built, Christmas has evolved from a quiet, religious holiday to a retail extravaganza,” said Susan Battle, Linden Place’s executive director. “This year, we wanted to give people an opportunity to take a break from the holiday’s hectic pace, relax for a few minutes, and return to the simple beauty and joys of the season.”
This Friday evening, December 16th at 6pm, get a glimpse of Christmas past at Linden Place Mansion’s Candlelight Tour. As you stroll through the decorated mansion rooms of the 1810 Federal home, you will learn all about the five generations of the DeWolf-Colt families who lived here and how Christmas was celebrated in Bristol in the 19th and early 20th centuries. During the one-hour guided tour, you are surrounded by elegant decorations on every mantle, a towering Christmas tree in the Gothic conservatory, all candlelit for the perfect holiday feel. Bring the family for an evening you won’t forget!
Also, this Friday at 7:30 PM, Linden Place’s holiday concerts continue with the sounds of jazz saxophonist, flutist, and composer, Greg Abate, and his quartet of piano, drums and bass. The limited-seating concert will include be-bop, jazz standards, Abate’s original compositions and some holiday classics.
Tickets and more information for Linden Place’s entire lineup of holiday events can be found at www.lindenplace.org or by calling the Linden Place office at (401)253-0390.
