SALLY KORNBLUTH

MIT selected Duke University Provost Sally Kornbluth as its new president, succeeding L. Rafael Reif, who announced in February that he would resign after 10 years leading the world-famous research university. A cell biologist, Kornbluth will begin as MIT’s 18th president on Jan. 1, 2023.

The Boston Architectural College named Lindsay Hummer as its new vice president of institutional advancement. Hummer previously served as development director for neurosciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center, among other positions with the KU Endowment, established in 1891 as America’s first foundation for a public university.

John Judge resigned as CEO of the Trustees of Reservations, the country’s oldest preservation and conservation nonprofit and the largest in Massachusetts. Judge began leading the Trustees in February 2022, following the death a year earlier of CEO Barbara Erickson.

The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation named its executive vice president, Doug Howgate, a former budget director for the state Senate Ways and Means Committee, to be the next president of the business-backed group. Starting Jan. 1, 2023, he will succeed Eileen McAnneny, who in May, announced she would step down from the job at the end of this year.

Sonja Lunde, recently deputy director for planning and program at the University of Utah’s Utah Museum of Fine Arts, was appointed director of the Fleming Museum of Art at the University of Vermont. She will succeed Janie Cohen, who retired after more than 30 years at the museum.
