LTE: BRETT SMILEY

Dear Neighbors and Friends

We did it!

Over the last year and a half, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with thousands of neighbors about our vision for Providence – our vision for a capital city that finally meets the potential we all know it has. And in all those conversations, I’ve been struck by two things.

First, there is a love for Providence, a pride in our city, that exists nowhere else in this country. And second, there is a shared understanding of what we can achieve together.

Providence has assets most cities would dream of. World-class universities and hospitals. Thriving small businesses. Diverse neighborhoods. Some of the best arts, culture, and food in the country.

It’s time to finally build a school system that delivers the outcomes our students and families deserve.

It’s time to address both the violent crimes and the quality-of-life crimes that threaten our public safety, and get back to real, meaningful community policing.

It’s time to make Providence the epicenter of new economic development, and to do it with aggressive new investments in affordable housing.

With good development, we’ll grow Providence, and we’ll support the hard-working men and women building our city. We will get back-to-basics and tackle the simple, quality-of-life issues that hold us back every day.

Just 18 months ago, I started this campaign and pledged to be the quality-of-life mayor for every person in Providence.

Throughout this time, I have appreciated the other candidates, their teams and their supporters for their commitment to Providence.

We all share a vision for an inclusive community because we all truly want to see Providence succeed.

I am so grateful for the support of our donors, the work of our volunteers and the dedication of the hardest working campaign staff in the state.

After over a year of campaigning and because of the support of my husband Jim and folks like you– we are ready to make Providence the best-run city in the country.

Thank you!

Brett
