Back-To-School Visits!

School communities across the Ocean State are excited to be back in the classroom among friends and colleagues! Throughout the week, we visited several cities and towns to get a first-hand look at the ways schools are celebrating back-to-school season!

First, I joined Providence Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Montañez early in the morning to greet bus drivers and monitors before heading to DelSesto Middle SchoolE-Cubed Academy, and Young Woods Elementary.

We later kicked off the first phase of Classical High School’s $34 million renovation project.

In Newport, we had the pleasure of cutting the ribbon to the upgraded Pell Elementary School.

And in Central Falls, I joined Mayor Rivera to welcome students at Calcutt Middle School to upgraded classrooms, new smart boards and furniture, as well a SMART Clinic that will help ensure students’ health and well-being.

Further, Tiverton Public Schools showed us how their engaging, high-quality CTE programs are helping students develop skills and preparing them for a 21st century economy.

And most recently, Johnston Public Schools spotlighted how they are meeting the academic and social-emotional needs of students this year.

We look forward to continuing to visit schools across the state this year! Make sure to share how you’re celebrating the return to school by using the hashtags #Back2SchoolRI and #ItsGreatToBeBack on your social media posts – and don’t forget to tag us!
