Prominent Peacemakers to speak at the Weaver Library
Weaver Library continues its month long focus on peace with talks by two prominent peace makers in Rhode Island.

Omar Bah discusses his book Africa???s Hell on Earth: The Ordeal of an African Journalist, and, as founder and Executive Director of the Refugee Dream Center, shares why he is dedicating his life to supporting refugees in our state.?? Bah is the winner of the 2016 Public Service Award from the Providence Newspaper Guild and recipient of ???One of Rhode Islanders of the Year 2015??? award from Rhode Island Monthly Magazine. Currently, Bah represents the state of Rhode Island at the Refugee Congress of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Washington, DC.

P.J. Fox III is the Executive Director of The Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence (ISPN). He succeeds founding Director Teny Gross. Mr. Fox has been with ISPN for 12 years, working previously as the Director of Training and Special Events, Chief Operating Officer, and most recently as the Interim Executive Director. Mr. Fox will speak about the work of ISPN, an innovative and nationally lauded non-profit organization that targets the reduction of violence in Rhode Island.?? Recently featured on the cover of the Providence Journal, Mr. Fox used Dr. King???s principles of nonviolence to defuse a difficult situation in Charlestown, RI.??????
Both talks take place on Monday, January 23, 2017 beginning at 6:30pm and are free and open to all.
