QUONSET POINTS

Quonset’s Wastewater Treatment Facility Team Nearly Sweeps NEWEA Operations Challenge

Two members of the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) took home first place in four out of five competitions in the New England Water and Environment Association’s (NEWEA) Operations Challenge recently.

QDC’s WWTF team joined members from Newport, Narragansett and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management in representing the Rhode Island Clean Water Association.

NEWEA is the New England regional affiliate of the Water Environment Foundation (WEF), which designed the Operations Challenge to promote clean water through “training, professional development, and team building.”

The competitions “simulate real world unexpected emergencies” and “challenge the teams in a highly competitive environment to safely and effectively solve complex problems under emergency conditions.”

The team, led by WWTF Superintendent Eddie Davies, will head to New Orleans for the National WEF Competition in October.
