A Message from Our Director
June is a particularly special month at the Attleboro Library this year as we have three staff members with graduating seniors, mine included!
Like many Attleboro residents, these kids have grown up at the library, checking out books, movies, and video games, attending programs, logging reading minutes, and working on assignments.
It brings me great joy to know that library staff bring all of these opportunities to the city as a whole, as if all the residents were our own families. Our heartfelt congratulations to all of Attleboro’s 2022 graduates and the people who supported them!
June weekends are full of city events from the Pride Flag Raising on June 5, the Juneteenth Celebration on June 18, and the Expo for the Senses on June 25. We can’t wait to see you there! We’re ESPECIALLY excited about the Library’s celebration on Saturday, June 25, from 2-4pm. Join us as we showcase the work that has been done to restore the building–and when you’re done, walk a block over to enjoy the Expo!
June also marks the 2022 Summer Reading Program, “Read Beyond the Beaten Path.” We are thrilled to be offering activities, programs, and prizes for participants from 3 years old to 103!
Read below for more information and watch for a Summer Reading page on our web site coming soon. The Summer Reading Program is not the same as Summer Reading assignments or Summer Reading lists that students receive from school, although library staff is happy to help you and your family with ALL of it!
These school assignments will be posted on our web site as they become available.
As you’re out and about in the city enjoying the sunshine, keep an eye out for a few new Little Free Libraries! Eagle Scout Guhan Nandakumar created these as a tribute to the love of reading that was instilled in him by a lifetime of visits to the APL.
Library volunteers will be keeping an eye on them and making sure they are stocked with great books and information about the Attleboro Public Library. Thank you to Guhan and the Attleboro Parks and Forestry Department for making this idea a reality!
