JUST THE FAQS

Q: Isn’t “Newsies” all boy parts?
A: NO WAY! There will be girl newsies, boy newsies, and TONS of other great parts for anyone to play! Disney has re-written the show to ensure that everyone will feel at home in any role.

Q: What if I’ve never done a show before? Can I still join?
A: ABSOLUTELY! We have a spot for everyone: beginners, novices, moderately talented, exceptionally talented, and professionals! At the end of the day we want to make sure everyone feels supported and able to do their best on stage.

Q: What does a typical day look like during “camp”?
A: Each morning, we’ll warm up our minds, bodies, and voices before dividing up and learning different parts of the show… music, staging, and choreography. Drama games, snack breaks, outdoor recess, and lunch are all part of the day. Before the end of the day, we celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to the next day!

Q: How do auditions work? What should I be prepared to do?
A: At TYT, auditions are held to determine placement in the cast. We do not cut anyone! Actors will be asked to prepare a short musical selection from the show and show their skills to the staff. Don’t want to sing solo? Cool! Actors can sing with a friend. We might ask you to read a short poem, or show us a few dance moves… all things to help us figure out the best spot for you!

Q: I’ve already registered – what’s next?
A: First… YAY! Second… tell your friends! Third… start listening to the show(s) and get to know them. Fourth… be on the lookout for audition materials and more information!
