CHAMPIONS IN ACTION PROGRAM

Citizens and NBC10 Now Accepting Applications for Champions in Action Program

Selected nonprofit will receive $35,000 and public visibility in 2022

RHODE ISLAND (March 7, 2022) – Citizens and NBC10 are now accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations for the Champions in Action program in the category of Innovation & Transformation.

Over the last two years, nonprofit organizations have been challenged to change the way they operate. This Champions in Action topic highlights organizations that have evolved to meet the rapidly changing world and better deliver on their missions.

Nonprofit organizations demonstrating innovative and transformative practices for themselves, and their immediate and surrounding communities are eligible to apply for this award.

The category targets partnerships, programs or processes that showcase how an organization has pivoted to provide new, successful ways of delivering services through their programs throughout the pandemic.

“Nonprofits have inspired us with their tremendous resiliency and creativity in providing innovative solutions to challenges exacerbated by the pandemic,” said Barbara Cottam, EVP, Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Responsibility at Citizens. “We are pleased to recognize nonprofit organizations that have transformed and innovated in the face of adversity to address critical needs in our communities.”

Organizations applying for the award should include metrics around the achievements of their program individually, or if through collaboration with another partner(s), the lead nonprofit should apply.

Applications can be completed online at www.citizensbank.com/champions and must be submitted by March 25, 2022.

Areas of focus for the Champions in Action program change twice yearly. The award recipients in the category of Innovation & Transformation will be announced in July. The selected Champion in Action will receive:

A $35,000 contribution in unrestricted funds from Citizens.

Media coverage and public service announcements from NBC 10.

Be a Rhode Island-based nonprofit organization that addresses the designated topic area.

Provide verification of tax-exempt status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
