Providence Children’s Museum Hosts Irish Cultural Dance Team Tir Na Nog for March’s Cultural Connections in PCM’s Children’s Garden
Providence, RI –Providence Children’s Museum (PCM) will host Tir Na Nog Irish Dancers for its March edition of Cultural Connections on Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Sponsored by the Institute for Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS), Cultural Connections is a monthly event designed to bring cultural activities to the children of Rhode Island. The Tir Na Nog performance dancers are the only non-competitive dance troupe in Rhode Island. Performers joining PCM will consist of dancers at different stages of expertise.
Each performance will consist of 3 parts that include information about what Irish Dancing, a performance from current students enrolled at Tir Na Nog, and information for families to learn about becoming an Irish dancer.
Tir Na Nog strives to make a unique, fun, and family atmosphere for children to learn Irish Dance. “Each month, we share a unique cultural experience for our visitors,” says Executive Director Caroline Payson.
“The Irish immigrants had a significant impact on the Rhode Island Community specifically highlighted in our Coming to Rhode Island exhibit with the building of Fort Adams. Irish Dance is a great way to learn more about Irish traditions – plus it’s tremendously fun.”

Providence Children’s Museum serves children and adults of all backgrounds and from all communities. Its focus is on children, ages 1 to 11, and the adults who care for them by presenting hands-on, play-based exhibits and programs that explore arts, culture and science, technology, engineering, and math.
