ATTLEBORO PUBLIC LIBRARY

A Message from Our Director

AMY

Spring is coming; we KNOW it is!

Typical of New England, as I write, another significant snowfall is on the way while Facebook friends are posting pictures of their seed-starting activities.

While the library lay somewhat dormant last year, now we’re allowing outside groups to hold events in the library again. Storytime and book discussions are being held in the building, and we’re eager to start scheduling more in-person programs soon.

The mayor has lifted the mask mandate for city buildings, but the library does encourage our visitors to wear one while inside the library.

Our city’s most vulnerable populations–young children and the elderly–frequent the library in large numbers, and we want them to continue to be safe while they are here.

The Library recently had the long-range plan for FY23-FY27 approved by the MBLC, MA Board of Library Commissioners, which means we are eligible to apply for state grants.

This document will guide our planning and decision making for the next five years. Based on input from the public, our partners, and APL staff, our goals include Community Connecting, Lifelong Learning, Meaningful Marketing, and User-Friendly Facilities. Look for it to be posted on our website soon.

As part of our commitment to the city, we are looking to increase the reach of this newsletter.
