PRESIDENT’S DAY TOUR

February 22. Linden Place Mansion’s President’s Day Tour

Over the course of its 200-year history, four U.S. Presidents visited Linden Place. Join one of two docent-led tours to hear the rest of the story about James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Ulysses S. Grant and Chester Arthur.

Guests will get the chance to learn fun trivia about our Presidents all the while exploring the mansion.

On this tour only, guests will have the unique opportunity of viewing an 1825 letter written by President Thomas Jefferson to a DeWolf family member and a handwritten note by President Abraham Lincoln.

The tour will take place on Tuesday, February 22 with tours running at 4:00PM and 6:00PM.

To honor the work of our community’s educators and the accomplishments of their pupils, we are offering students of any age and teachers a special $5 rate. Tickets are $12 adults, $10 seniors, free for Linden Place Members.

Linden Place is grateful for the diligence of our Rhode Island community members and citizens in fighting the spread of Covid by not only masking, but also by vaccinating. We are committed to protecting our staff, our volunteers, our patrons and our audiences.

To support those shared goals, wearing a mask while visiting Linden Place has been our standard policy.  In addition to that, we also require that all visitors over the age of five years old who are visiting the museum or attending a Linden Place-sponsored event on our grounds show proof of vaccination.

February 24. From Slave to Soldiers, a Look at the 1st Rhode Island Regiment in the American Revolution

In recognition of Black History Month, Linden Place Museum in Bristol, R.I. will host a live talk, held virtually, focused on the 1st Rhode Island Regiment of the American Revolution, later known as the “Black Regiment”, which was composed of indentured servants, Narragansett Indians and former slaves. Join historian Robert Geake as he shares the story from formation, to the Battle of Rhode Island, to the siege of Yorktown, to the legacy today of those who enlisted to fight for America’s freedom – and their own.

The presentation will take place on Thursday, Feb 24, 2022 at 7:00 PM via Zoom.

While the virtual lecture is a free event for all to attend, a suggested donation of $5 will help us continue to serve our mission and will allow us to host
