Dear Neighbor,
Last week, I had the honor of joining Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Paré, Providence Police Chief Colonel Hugh Clements, community partners Cedric Huntley of the Nonviolence Institute and Channavy Chhay of the Center for Southeast Asians, and members of the Providence Police Department to kick off recruitment for the 71st Providence Police Academy.
The Providence Police Department is a team known for going above and beyond the call of duty, for their bravery and selflessness and their deep community work. We rely on our Providence Police officers and leadership to keep our city’s residents and visitors safe, and we hold our police department to a high standard as we work to maintain a track record of success.
Now, we are looking for the next group of dedicated individuals who want to join our team. If you are interested in a new opportunity to develop professionally and play a critical role in Providence’s public safety, I encourage you to apply today.
I am proud of the strides we have made in recent years to recruit a diverse police force that is more representative of our city, so I especially encourage underrepresented individuals to apply.
If you are interested in learning more or applying, you can check out the online application. Applications are due February 4, 2022.
Please help us by spreading the word to your neighbors and networks that might be interested.
Thank you to all of our public safety officials who work tirelessly day in and day out to serve our city, and I look forward to meeting those of you who will soon join them.
Sincerely,
Jorge O. Elorza
