Notes from Commissioner Infante-Green
RISCA RESULTS
RIDE has released the 2021 RICAS, SAT, and DLM test results. You can view the results statewide and for your district here: https://www3.ride.ri.gov/adp.
These results are a clear call to action: our students’ learning was disrupted by COVID-19, and it’s our responsibility as a state to help them move forward and accelerate their learning.
Like communities across the country, we knew this was coming and with our Learning, Equity & Accelerated Pathways (LEAP) Task Force, we have been planning ways to remedy the impact of the pandemic.
Rhode Island isn’t an outlier, either regionally or nationally, among other states that administered standardized assessments over the past year.
These results aren’t without any spots of hope: in some key areas, we dropped less than our neighboring states and some schools we able to raise their scores year-to-year.
I want it to be clear: the full credit for any positive developments that happened this year belongs to you. It was the tireless work of our school administrators, educators, community leaders, and families that kept our students engaged and hopeful through one of the most difficult years of any of our lives.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your hard work this year.
There is still a great amount of work ahead of us. We will need to work closely together to create a new, stronger, and more equitable education system for our students. I am looking forward to partnering with you in the coming months to do this necessary and valuable work.
Together, we will not only recover from the pandemic but exceed where we were before.
With gratitude and in partnership,
Angélica
