On Saturday, May 8, there will be a work party at the Nickerson Walking Woods Preserve from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. We will be clearing invasive plants from the meadow.
At this work party, we will follow these COVID-19 precautions:
— Everyone must wear a mask.
— Everyone must maintain a 6-foot distance from each other.
— Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring your own:
— face mask (required)
— work gloves
— water

WORK PARTY – SATURDAY, MAY 8
Location: Nickerson Walking Woods Preserve
Park in lot at 221 Richardson Avenue.
Walk on trail about 250 yards from parking lot to meadow.
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon
Supervising this work party will be Phil Boucher.
Tasks:
–We will be removing weeds, cutting up and uprooting invasive shrubs, and uprooting invasive buckthorn saplings.
Tools needed will include:
–Shovels, pick axes
–Tarps
–Loppers, pruning shears, pruning saws, and other pruning tools
–String trimmers
–Brush cutters
–There might be a need for a chain saw.
We will have some tools, but bring what you have.
Durable work clothes are recommended for protection from briers with sharp thorns and poison ivy.
There is poison ivy in the meadow. If you don’t know how to recognize it, ask for help.
