WICKFORD ART: FUN – FUR – FEATHERS

Wickford Art – Second Exhibit of 2021: FUR, FEATHERS, FINS…Animals in Art

North Kingstown (RI) – The Wickford Art Association’s annual “animals in art” exhibit: Fur, Feathers, Fins will open at our North Kingstown Beach Street Gallery on Friday- February 12, 2021.  Fur, Feathers, Fins is an all media, open exhibit, juried for entry and prizes by jurist Betsey MacDonald, an artist who loves animals with a BFA and MFA in Studio Art.

Having completed pre-med programming, Betsey brings a love of science and intimate knowledge of anatomy to her work.  She is a Juried Artist Member of the Wickford Art Association and a juried member of the American Academy of Equine Art.

With all works selected through a new online registration system recently launched by Wickford Art Association, Fur, Feathers, Fins will be installed in early February with opening receptions on Friday- February 12 (starting at 6:30pm that evening if State of Rhode Island physical distancing restrictions allow) and will be available to the public through March 7, 2021.

Prize-winning works will be announced opening night live and through social media.

All work will also be placed online for virtual viewing as well, ensuring its accessibility for the community-at-large.  Selected works will be available for post-exhibit viewing and purchase on WAA’s new webstore as well.

More about Betsey MacDonald, Jurist:

Betsey MacDonald holds a BFA and MFA in Studio Art. She taught high school Chemistry and Biology for 25 years and Art for 10 years and notes that her students were, and still are, a constant inspiration.

She has held many solo exhibits and often takes part in group exhibitions throughout the region. With a family of animal lovers, favorite activities are those that include the animals whether riding, running, walking or, for me, painting.

Betsey has a passion to keep creating, always seeing things that need to be painted.  Working among many different mediums, Betsey paints her own animals as well as wildlife and does accept commissions.
