ATTLEBORO — Attleboro Firefighters Local 848 have confirmed that their number of Members testing positive for COVID-19 has increased to ten.
In addition, two dispatchers have also tested positive for coronavirus; bringing the total to twelve as of this date. These ten Firefighters and two Dispatchers continue to be quarantined and are being monitored according to public health guidelines.
Thankfully, the one Member hospitalized has been released and is home receiving further treatment due to the severity of symptoms.
Local 848, in conjunction, with Fire Chief Lachance has completed the first round of testing for all Members, Dispatchers, and Day Staff. The majority of these Members have tested Negative, with a handful still awaiting results.
“This coronavirus outbreak has been a very taxing and strenuous time for all involved,” Local 848 President Jacques said. “All of us are relieved to have our Member out of the hospital and back home with us and family.
There is still a long road of recovery ahead, but Local 848 will ensure this Member and all Members tested positive will be cared for to the fullest extent.”
Local 848 is working with State and Local Health Officials, State Legislators, the Fire Chief, and others on putting together a ZOOM Meeting to evaluate the situation through a collaborative effort of facts and further necessary action. Local 848 cannot say thank you enough for the overwhelming show of support received from the Citizens of Attleboro and throughout the Firefighting Community.
