Women are America’s Greatest Natural Resource!
Last week, the Rhode Island Trucking Association announced the first recipient of the Lena Daly Scholarship.
Created this year by the trucking association in partnership with the Women in Trucking Foundation, its purpose is to advance the careers of women in trucking while simultaneously paying homage to the ground-breaking history of female leadership of the Rhode Island Trucking Association: the fearless Lena Daly served as the first female trucking association manager in the national federation in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
“This is a wonderful way to celebrate the accomplishments of women leaders in the Ocean State. As a woman, I was excited to learn more about Lena Daly and how she paved the way for women in transportation,” said Rhode Island Women for Freedom & Prosperity spokeswoman Ceasare Rivas. “In fact, my own mother works as a driver here in Rhode Island.
This is a great opportunity for women.”
Rhode Island Women for Freedom & Prosperity salutes the trail-blazing leadership of Lena Daly and celebrates the award of the first scholarship in her name.
