BASS PRO SHOPS – FOXBOROUGH, MA

Sensitive Santa event gives local children with autism and sensory processing challenges chance to visit Santa Claus

More than 50 area children with autism and sensory processing challenges will have the opportunity to visit a special Sensitive Santa at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Foxborough on Saturday, December 7 and Saturday, December 14. Each child will also have the opportunity to participate in sensory-friendly activities and crafts, and receive a free photo of the visit.

Bass Pro Shops has partnered with May Institute to create a magical experience for these children and their families. Children pre-registered with May Institute will be able to visit Bass Pro Shops annual Santa’s Wonderland which will be partially modified to decrease the likelihood that a child will feel over-stimulated. The event will occur before the store is open to the public and families won’t have to worry about a long wait in line.

Families of children with sensory processing disorders typically never have the opportunity to experience one of childhood’s favorite traditions so the event is extra special. This is the fifth year Bass Pro Shops has hosted the event at its popular Santa’s Wonderland experience where all families can visit Santa and receive a free 4×6 color photo.

May Institute is dedicated to providing life-changing care to children, adolescents, and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, brain injury and neurobehavioral disorders, and other special needs. The organization serves thousands of individuals and their families annually across more than 140 locations. Services include five special education schools, center-based and home-based services, school consultation services, adult residential and day programs, and supported living and supported employment.
