Don???t miss a moment of a very captivating July 16-17 weekend happening throughout Rhode Island???s Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park.??

Along with being a top Southern New England destination to discover the importance of America???s Industrial Revolution begun here, Blackstone River Valley offers residents and visitors alike a diversity of ethnic culture, live entertainment and historic places well worth the experience!??

Among some of the many interesting events happening are a signature annual festival, live music and stage acts, locations with unique backgrounds and visual arts.

Celebrating Colombian Independence

Rhode Island???s smallest city, Central Falls, boasts one of the largest populations in the US of Colombian-Americans and Colombian immigrants.??

Each year the square mile city hosts the annual Colombian Independence Parade and Festival. This year???s celebration is planned for Sunday, July 17.??

Festivities start with the popular and colorful Colombian Parade at 10 am, marching along Dexter Street and ending at Higginson Park.??

The parade offers floats, marchers, dancers and musical bands representing the many regions of Colombia, plus Carnival Queens and other Latino and Hispanic cultural groups.

The festival inside Higginson Park runs 12 noon-7 pm. It offers the public recognized artists along with cultural performances standup comedy and folkloric dances will be participating in our festival. We will also have a great variety of Colombian food and drinks.

Live on stage in Woonsocket!

One of the more vibrant places to enjoy some of the best live and local acts in Southern New England is along the Main Street Arts & Entertainment District in Woonsocket, RI.??

For almost two decades now Main Street, from Monument Square to Market Square, has been transformed into a showcase for live theater, music concerts, heritage and cultural museums and more.

Over the weekend two popular venues offer great entertainment on stage!??

Chan???s Eggrolls & Jazz, at 265 Main Street, a favorite venue for noted jazz and blues talent, offers four great concerts over four nights.

Thursday, July 14: Mike Zito & The Wheels presents their high energy vibe??

Friday, July 15: Jane Lee Hooker performs with an all girl band of blues, punk and rock.

Saturday, July 16: Johnny A hits the stage, noted as an impressive guitar virtuoso.??

Sunday, July 17: Quinn Sullivan performs, noted as a teen guitar sensation.

Saturday, July 16, 11 am-4 pm, relive the ???Roaring 1920???s??? with a special themed fundraising event to benefit Hearthside House, located at 477 Great road, Lincoln, RI.

This 15th annual Friends of Hearthside event welcomes participants to see a showcase of all things associated with the era, commemorating the 1920???s decade of prosperity, decadence, and flamboyance.??From throwing out manners and morals, to prohibition, gangsters and scandals, to outrageous fashions, dance and music, this decade changed America.?? Our planning committee has been meeting regularly sorting out lots of great ideas;??their biggest challenge is fitting everything into this one-day event
