Assistant Director of DPW Bill Vieira to Lead Zoning Department
PAWTUCKET??? On Friday, October 19th, the City of Pawtucket announced that current Assistant Director of Public Works William ???Bill??? Vieira Sr. ??? who successfully managed the transition in the Department of Public Works to Director Eric Earls ??? will be the new Acting Director of Zoning effective Monday, October 22nd.
Vieira, a lifelong Pawtucket resident, will be tasked with the restructuring of the Department of Zoning as the City looks to focus on improving neighborhood quality of life and public health, the anticipated installation of automated trash collection, and refining customer service in the department.
???Bill (Vieira) brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role as the Director of Zoning,??? said Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien. ???I am pleased to have him head up the department after how well he managed the transition in Public Works. He will play a major role in improving our neighborhoods??? quality of life, especially those that have had rodent concerns.???

The position, which will report to Commerce Director Jeanne Boyle, will allow for a more hands on approach overseeing the operations of the Zoning Department as the City tackles the rodent concerns that have been raised by the Council. Vieira will also be tasked with being more vigilant in court enforcement procedures and will hold absentee landlords accountable for maintaining their properties.
