Film Examining the Bottled-Water Industry to screen at the Weaver Library
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 10, 2018) – The ??Weaver Library and the Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club will??host??a??screening and discussion of??the??documentary Tapped in the Champlin Program Room of the library on??Monday, October 22, 2018 at 6:30pm.??
A behind-the-scenes look into the unregulated and unseen world of the bottled water industry, this powerful film examines whether access to clean drinking water is a basic human right or a commodity that should be bought and sold like any other article of commerce. From the production of plastic bottles to the ocean where so many of these bottles end up, Tapped follows the machinations of the bottled-water industry and its effects on our health, climate change, pollution, and our reliance on oil.
Audience members are encouraged to bring their own reusable water container. Water and cookies will be served compliments of the Narragansett Chapter of the AMC.
