The Pawtucket Parks and Recreation hosted the 45th Pawtucket Open Tennis Tournament this past weekend at the Kenney Tennis Courts located in Slater Memorial Park.?? Once again, there was a great selection of local tennis talent taking the courts and preserving this time-honored tradition.
The Mens Singles Championship round wrapped up Sunday afternoon with ??Manny Pacheco from Pawtucket defeating Robert DeQuattro from North Providence in the Singles 3.0-3.5 Division.?? Pacheco lost the first set in a tie-break score 6-7 (2).?? It was 4 games all, in the second set when DeQuattro was injured and retired from the match.

In the 4.0-4.5 division, the score was 0 games for Manny Toppins, 1 game for David Moran in the first set, when Moran was injured in the second game and forced to retire from the match.??

In the Mens Doubles Division – Scott Francoeur and Mauricio Guerra from East Providence defeated Manny Pacheco from Pawtucket and Manny Toppins from Providence. ??Francoeur/Guerra lost the first set 3-6, won the second set in a tie-break (7-4 in the tie-break), and then won the deciding set super-tiebreak 10-6.

The Mixed Doubles Division was a new addition to the Pawtucket Open this year.?? This year, ??Julia Texeira and Sam Narayana from Rehoboth, Massachusetts defeated Michael and Ellen Botelho from Coventry, Rhode Island, 6-1, 6-3.
