Dear Friend,
REV. SUSAN HENDERSHOT
Last week, Interim EPA Administrator and former coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler signed his first regulatory amendment. His first priority at the helm of the EPA? Weakening protections for ground water from coal ash pollution. You might remember the coal ash disaster in North Carolina a few years ago, when the drinking water for thousands of people was threatened after 39,000 tons of coal ash poured into the Dan River.??
This is a disaster waiting to happen. It is clear that Wheeler intends to pursue the same pro-polluter policies as his predecessor Scott Pruitt. Which means that we have a lot or work to do.
People of faith are called to protect the most vulnerable among us, and stand up in the face of injustice. With your help, we worked tirelessly to hold former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt accountable when his actions threatened the health and well-being of millions.
Andrew Wheeler is proving to be just as dangerous to the health of Earth and all of its inhabitants. It is immoral to allow the poisoning and contamination of water communities depend on, and expose families to greater risks of cancer and other illnesses.??
When we come together with one voice, we are powerful. Thank you for being a part of the IPL community.
In Faith,
Rev. Susan Hendershot
President
