PAWTUCKET ??? The Pawtucket Fire Department put a new rescue into service at Fire Station 3 on Columbus Avenue. The new rescue will replace a 5-year-old vehicle that will now be a reserve apparatus. The new rescue, a $283,749 investment, is now the City???s third frontline rescue with two rescues in reserve.

???The investment in a new rescue is an investment in the health and safety of our residents,??? said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. ???The new rescue is part of the City???s overall strategy to make wise investments, continue to upgrade our aging fleet of vehicles, and stay up-to date with the latest technology so we can provide residents with first-class services.???

???This new rescue will assist the Department with the volume of calls, added wait times at area hospitals, and time on the road,??? said Public Safety Director James Vartanian. ???Our firefighters save lives every day in our rescues, the City is proud to continue to invest in their critical equipment.???

???The new rescue is a welcomed addition to the Pawtucket Fire Department fleet,??? said Chief Sisson. ???This is another example of the city???s commitment to the life safety of the citizens and firefighters.???
