GOOD FOOD POLICY DAY AT STATE HOUSE

Good Food Policy Day at the RI State House returns, rallying advocates across the state

PROVIDENCE, RI – Good Food Policy Day is an annual celebration of the power of advocacy and a chance to make stakeholders’ voices heard. Hosted by the Rhode Island Food Policy Council (RIFPC), this gathering raises awareness about the food system issues that are affecting Rhode Islanders and serves as an opportunity to speak directly to legislators about why the agenda RIFPC is championing matters.

The celebration, happening in the Bell Room, includes a short speaking presentation featuring legislators and Council members focused on RIFPC’s 2025 Good Food Policy Agenda. RIFPC policy working groups will also host information stations focused on advocating for legislation that supports urban and small farm success, healthy school meals, a tax credit for businesses that donate surplus food, and a statewide compost fund.

Later in the afternoon, in the Senate Chambers, Senator Linda Ujifusa will read and present a citation to RIFPC to acknowledge its steadfast advocacy to build a more just and resilient food system for all Rhode Islanders.
