LOCAL YOUTH AUDITIONS FOR summer 2025
productions of WAITRESS AND HEARTBREAK HOTEL
Wakefield, RI – Bill Hanney’s Theatre By the Sea announces Local Youth Auditions for its summer productions of Waitress and Heartbreak Hotel. Seeking local youth actors to portray Lulu, Jenna’s daughter in Waitress, and Young Elvis in Heartbreak Hotel. Housing and transportation are not provided for out-of-town actors. Both youth actor roles will be double cast, with performances to be shared. Performers selected for Waitress will need to be available for afternoon, evening, and weekend rehearsals from June 10 – 24 and all day and evening performances from June 25 – July 19, 2025. Performers selected for Heartbreak Hotel will need to be available for afternoon, evening, and weekend rehearsals from August 5 – 19 and all day and evening performances from August 20 – September 14, 2025.

Those auditioning should bring a current headshot or a recent photo and a resume (if available). Character description and specific requirements for each role are listed below:
LULU – Young Girl, 4-5 years old, Caucasian
Jenna’s daughter. A sweet, carefree child who appears in the last scene of the show.
Actor should be confident and able to engage in a small amount of dialogue and movement on stage.
Must be shorter than 42”. The role will be double cast.

YOUNG ELVIS – Boy, 10 – 12, Caucasian
Confident actor/singer. Guitar experience is a plus but not required. The role will be double cast.
For the role of Young Elvis, please prepare a 16-bar selection of a song,
preferably with sheet music, in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella will be permitted but is not encouraged.
Those who have any guitar experience are encouraged to bring and play their guitar at the audition.
If asked, audition sides (scenes) from the show will be provided after singing.
There will be separate sessions for each character. No appointment necessary.
