Hooray for Horror!
By Joseph Morra on October 5, 2024 in Collections, Displays, Fiction, Movies, Reading
October is unofficially known as spooky season, and APL is here for you with creepy and scary stories available in all the collections! APL staff have curated some of their favorite selections into some fantastic displays! Drop by to visit the horror movie display on the 3rd floor, and the “Hauntingly Good Reads” book display featured on the first floor. Looking to sink your teeth into even more horror? Check out the Horror Writers Association web site, search streaming service Kanopy (free with your library card!) for their streaming horror collection, and this list of family-friendly horror movies for kids!
EventKeeper registration system is down
By Joseph Morra on October 3, 2024
EventKeeper, the calendar that shows all of APL’s programs, has been getting a multi-day upgrade by its administrators, and it has taken longer than expected. We know it has affected your ability to register for programs, and we apologize for the inconvenience it is causing.
If you would like to register for any program, please call us (508-222-0157), and we will take your information and make sure you are registered for a program as long as seats are still available in that program.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Look who’s hanging around at the APL!
By Joseph Morra
There are new friends hanging around in the Children’s Room! Where, you might ask? Hint: You need to look up!
Located near the front windows in the preschool section of the room are two murals created by local artist Jason Sawtelle of BlackBeak Studios. The murals feature multiple animals from two different environments–the ocean and a rainforest. What makes the murals even more interesting is that they are created as windows, making it look like the viewer is entering a new landscape. In addition to the murals’ beauty, activities were created to help you learn more about the animals depicted in them.
The APL team is grateful to the Attleboro Cultural Council and the Friends of Attleboro Public Library for their support in bringing Jason to the library for this effort. So the next time you’re at APL, “swing” by the Children’s Room for views into two new worlds!
