Smithfield, RI – The Town of Smithfield has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the year ended June 30, 2023.  The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management team.

“We are honored to receive this esteemed award for the 16th consecutive year, and it truly reflects the hard work and dedication that the Town staff demonstrate every day,” said Randy Rossi, Town Manager.  “This certificate expresses the Town’s commitment to the highest standards and transparency in the delivery of financial information to the public.”

The ACFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the ACFR.
